Hi everyone, I am an international and I am currently using Professional Service Inc (PSI) health insurance which is sponsored by AIG and can only be used by international students. Two years later, I need to do a hip replacement surgery but I don’t know whether that insurance is reliable or not. I call that company, but someone never answers the phone. Well, I don`t know anything about the English system, but here in Germany your health insurance provides the EHIC card. So I guess you need to have some kind of insurance in Britain and they can assist you with all other issues and questions.
Hey everyone, I am an international student that works at school and doesn’t make that much money. I have this insurance that is only for emergencies and I have to pay $483 for the insurance! How often does a person actually have emergencies? I really want to go for doctor visits because I have a feeling that something is wrong. I get really bad chest pains almost as if I am having a heart attack (I don’t know what that feels like) but they are bad. I called the insurance company and they said they only cover if I am actually sick or have an injury. I am not sick I just want to find out what is wrong with me so I have to pay from my pocket if I do that. The next payment is due in June but I don’t want to pay it because to me it is a waste of money that just sits around and I don’t actually use the insurance because I am not sick or have an emergency. Does anyone know of any insurance companies that cover both emergencies and doctor visits? Please help!!! Thank you.

I am in international student enrolled in a college in DFW area, Texas. Yesterday, I suddenly got rashes all over my body with fever and back pain. So, I had to visit Emergency at UT SOUTHWESTERN for about 4 hours. After lab tests, the doctor diagnosed my condition as Chicken Pox.
Now, I am taking rest for 7 days, but I am very worried about the bills the hospital/doctor/lab will send. They have not spoken a word about the expenses yet, but they will surely send me bills since I did not have health insurance. I was planning to buy insurance but I got this illness before I purchased it.
I heard that there are a few agencies/donors which are always willing to cover such medical expenses. But I do not know how to contact them.
I would be grateful, if you could share ideas and information you have.

I will be taking a two year training course on an M1 VISA in the USA in the next few months… A lot of people have told me that I MUST get some health insurance while out there. Problem I have is finding any company that provides this for students! I have found a couple of different websites, but I don’t know who is better than who, or if I should just speak directly to an HMO etc. I’m not too sure how this all works as health care is free where I live.
