Blue Jersey’s Jay Lassiter interviews Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) on challenges facing the State Children’s Health Insurance Program under the Bush Administration. Menendez talks about his fight for working families in New Jersey and around the country.

With participating states facing huge funding shortfalls, the Senator secured $650 million in supplemental appropriations for SCHIP (with $100 million coming to NJ) and he is fighting the Bush Administration’s attempts to pull the rug out from under currently insured people — 110,000 in New Jersey alone.

Shares of Aflac, Inc. (NYSE:AFL) plunged to an 11-month low earlier today after Aflac’s CIO said that the supplemental health insurance company has around $2 billion worth of bonds from Greek and Portuguese banks.

Due to rising debt, Greece and Portugal have been cut by ratings firms.

Aflac reportedly has around $1 billion worth of Greek bank bonds and $750 million from Portugal.

The insurer also holds an additional $285 million in sovereign bonds from Greece.

Aflac closed today trading down 5.32% at $49.62, on volume of 13,404,484, versus the average volume of 3,165,020.

Digestive Enzymes are enzymes that specifically work in the digestive system to facilitate the digestion, absorption, and transportation of nutrients. Roy Blunt to lament the horrors of private insurance companies no longer being able to reap massive profits on the backs of United States citizens. If we did by some miracle actually ever get to universal health care in the U.S., it would not mean these companies are out of business completely. They would still be offering supplemental insurance to compliment the government plan. In the world of the Gupta’s and Blunt’s out there, that would be a tragedy.
