(UNCUT) The CNN RON CLARK ACADEMY HEALTH CARE REFORM SONG – FULL VERSION

August 29, 2010 - 4:11 pm 25 Comments

2 (UNCUT) The CNN RON CLARK ACADEMY HEALTH CARE REFORM SONG FULL VERSIONRon Clark Academy students write a song their take on health care reform to the tune of Miley Cyrus’ ‘Party in the U.S.A.’ on CNN.

Lyrics:
Got paged in the morning at 5am
Time to go into work again.
Welcome to the world of medicine,
Whoa, here we go again.
The hospital’s packed with people in a long line
Agitated cause we’ve waited for a long time.
This is all so crazy, too many missing coverage lately

My tummy’s turning and I’m feeling kinda sickly
My hip’s bad and I feel weak
And the prices are always raising up.
Conservatives and liberals say
To reform healthcare today
But they can’t seem to find a way.

So we throw our hands up for healthcare reform
Make your choice today.
Private and public care
Will a marketplace treat us fair?

So we throw our hands up for healthcare reform
Make your choice today.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It’s a problem in the USA.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It’s a problem in the USA.

Obama says everyone needs
Health coverage in America now.
We need to insure those 47 million
But the government doesn’t know how.
Deductibles getting higher every day
I got my bill and I’m thinking NO way.
And what about my brother?
He’s hurt and can’t get covered.

My tummy’s turning and I’m feeling kinda worried
Capricious coverage is killing me.
That’s when a doctor said, “You’ll have to go.”
Bipartisan support was tried so we wouldn’t be denied
But Joe Wilson yelled, “You lie!”

It’s Not Just About Health Care For America, It’s About A Healthier America

August 29, 2010 - 3:54 pm 25 Comments

2 Its Not Just About Health Care For America, Its About A Healthier AmericaToday, House and Senate leaders of both parties are meeting with the President at the Blair House to discuss moving forward with comprehensive health reform. This video is of the Speakers opening remarks.

Without reform, the cost of health care for the average family of four is projected to rise $1,800 every year for years to come—and insurance companies will make more health care decisions. Americas middle class deserves better and were closer than ever to making reform a reality. As we go forward, our reform efforts must pass the Triple-A test, reaching our three key goals: affordability for the middle class, accessibility for all Americans, and accountability for the insurance industry. Progress Made On Health Care And Climate Change

August 29, 2010 - 2:30 pm 25 Comments

2 Progress Made On Health Care And Climate ChangeHE PRESIDENT: Hello. Good afternoon, everybody. You know that I am from Chicago, so let me first say that with the place where I live covered with snow Im finally starting to feel like home. And I am sorry to drag you guys out in this weather, but I wanted to speak briefly to you about the significant progress that weve made on two of the major challenges facing the American people: the crushing cost of health care and our dangerous dependence on fossil fuels.

On health care, with todays developments it now appears that the American people will have the vote they deserve on genuine reform that offers security to those who have health insurance and affordable options to those for do not. And so I want to thank Senator Harry Reid and every senator whos been working around the clock to make this happen.

Theres still much work left to be done, but not a lot of time left to do it. But today is a major step forward for the American people. After a nearly century long struggle we are on the cusp of making health care reform a reality in the United States of America.

As with any legislation, compromise is part of the process. But I’m pleased that recently added amendments have made this landmark bill even stronger. Between the time the bill passes and the time when the insurance exchange gets up and running there will now be penalties for insurance companies that arbitrarily jack up rates on consumers. And while insurance companies will be prevented from denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing conditions once the exchange is open, in the meantime there will be a high risk pool where people with pre-existing conditions can purchase affordable coverage.

And a recent amendment has made these protections even stronger. Insurance companies will now be prohibited from denying coverage to children immediately after this bill passes. Theres also explicit language in this bill that will protect a patients choice of doctor. And small businesses will get additional … Distributed by Tubemogul.
