Next time you pay a TAX think of this! ( From Rachel Maddow show )

August 29, 2010 - 2:56 pm 23 Comments

2 Next time you pay a TAX think of this! ( From Rachel Maddow show )” Corporate welfare for banks and the automobile industry in a country with no national health or child care system- this is insanity! ”

was said in: Bush offers $17.4B to automakers

George Bush’s free market idealism is much like his idea of democracy – it is good – as long as they control the strings – but this is interfering with the free market – just as the multi trillion dollar bailout for financial industy is interfering with the free market. Democracy is only good as long as the guy in power is on your side – if he is on his/her peoples side – then all bets are off.

The multi trillion dollar derivitives market – should never of been allowed to function outside any regulatory agency – fact. Who has taken account for this abhorrent betting outside the game? Why is the taxpayer on the hook for banks that got overextended in the derivitive market? Why were the banks even allowed to gamble in such a way? Where is the justice?

The subprime mortgage fiasco never should of been allowed to occur. Where were the security insurance ratings guys – and how was it that these were allowed to be bundled and resold as AAA rated security funds????? Who has taken account for this total lack of oversight? Where is the justice?

And now it comes down to mainstreet – and we are left, with no retirement, no money, more debt and less jobs. No amount of bailout is going to get people buying cars again. That is the bottom line. 2 TRILLION dollars of wealth dissappeared out of the pockets and financial portfolios of individuals – and the banks get even more taxpayer funds – even though they screwed up by gambling where they should not of. No amount of bailout is going to restore trust and confidence in a system that does not punish those who did wrong. Without trust and confidence – the market remains frozen solid.

I am glad for the workers that there is help – but a significant part of me is against this – not because of the UAW, or the cost of their salaries, and not even because of the bad decisions the CEO’ s made in regards to their product line – but mostly – because this is like putting on a bandaid on a sword slash across the throat.

And worse – the ones who engineered this epic swindle are left holding taxpayer money and laughing while we suffer.

WASHINGTON Think you could borrow money from a bank without saying what you were going to do with it? Well, apparently when banks borrow from you, they don’t feel the same need to say how the money is spent.

After receiving billions in aid from U.S. taxpayers, the nation’s largest banks say they can’t track exactly how they’re spending it. Some won’t even talk about it.

“We’re choosing not to disclose that,” said Kevin Heine, spokesman for Bank of New York Mellon, which received about $3 billion.

IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!anybody that has business with bank of America needs to take their money out of their banks and put it in local banks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The whole deal is goes deeper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The bank of America was one of the first banks in the US to get tax payer money from the bail out they are using the money to invest in China!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Read the story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just one month after receiving $25 billion form the Treasury to stave off disaster, Bank of America spent $7 billion to increase its holdings of China Construction Bank.

In mid October Bank of America was one of the hand-selected institutions to receive the first phase of the $700 billion bailout package. As one of the worlds largest banks, Bank of America was deemed suitable for a cash infusion by the Treasury Department in order to shore up its assets and get the bank to open up its channels for lending. Bank of America is apparently lending, but it is lending overseas rather than to beleaguered home and business owners in the United States who desperately need a hand.

www.economyincrisis.org…

They took the money gave the finger to the American tax payer and took billions to China.

Incredible.

People needs to boycott this bank

Health Insurance the public option

August 29, 2010 - 2:53 pm 15 Comments

2 Health Insurance the public optionA vote for a public insurance option is a vote against the current distribution of wealth within society.

Not withstanding the current public options and without looking to detract from or support those options. We can see a clear difference between what is publicly funded today and the public funding of health insurance.

Health Insurance vrs Public Roads

No one is saying, or at least Im not saying, we should not pay taxes. Nor am I saying taxes are bad and the government should have zero jurisdiction outside the of military.

The Interstate Highway System was funded with 90% federal funds from the Highway Trust Fund (stocked with motorist fuel and excise taxes) and 10% state DOT funds.

Health Insurance vrs Public Education

9000 PER STUDENT
270000 for 30 students

45000 in total teacher compensation
28500 in curriculum ($950 per student)
14400 in mortgage and lease

2930 per year, per student
245 per person, per month

Health Insurance vrs U.S. Postal Service

The U.S. Postal Service “The independent government agency relies on postage and fees to fund operations. Though it has? a monopoly on delivering the mail, the USPS faces competition for services such as package delivery.” answers . com/topic/united-states-postal -service.

No one is forced to pay for postal service and this service does not increase the cost of mail delivery. Health Insurance does increase the costs of Health Coverage for everyone including the uninsured, which is unjust.

Health Insurance vrs Personal Responsibility

We eating foods that are killing us quicker than our reason of strength.

Access to health care should come from wages and sustainable wages should be paid by every employer.

I am all for the government legislating a meaningful minimum wage applicable to all business owners. The governments role is to secure the right of individuals to do good. Individuals can not do good if they can not pay for the services they need.

Thats no solution thats extortion

“But exchanges are not necessarily free. Many are coerced. If a robber threatens you with, Your money or your life, your payment to him is coerced and not voluntary, and he benefits at your expense. It is robbery, not free markets, that actually follows the mercantilist model: the robber benefits at the expense of the coerced. Exploitation occurs not in the free market, but where the coercer exploits his victim.” http://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/FreeMarket.html

Your not driving innovation your driving profits

Don’t leave the president alone in the White House. Pray for him and all those in leadership that we might live quite peaceable lives in all godliness and honesty.

Health Care Anyone?

August 29, 2010 - 2:32 pm 1 Comment

2 Health Care Anyone? The nation’s health insurers offered Tuesday to stop basing people’s premiums on their health and extend coverage to all Americans regardless of pre-existing conditions – provided that everyone gets insurance. The suggestion from Karen Ignagni, president of America’s Health Insurance Plans, marked the first time the insurance industry has made such a proposal. In return, however, they want a system similar to the one that now exists only in Massachusetts, in which all residents are required to get insurance. Insurers want the federal government to help those who cannot afford private insurance with subsidies or tax breaks. The proposal marked one of the first concrete steps forward in overhauling the nations health care system. To view more Street Talk videos or to post a comment go to: www.wmal.com.

Ron Paul on National Health Care Reform

August 29, 2010 - 2:16 pm 9 Comments

2 Ron Paul on National Health Care ReformAugust 26, 1988 http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FRon-Paul%2Fe%2FB001I9TTX6%3Fqid%3D1278222385%26sr%3D1-2-ent&tag=doc06-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=932

Ron Paul rejects universal health care, believing that the more government interferes in medicine, the higher prices rise and the less efficient care becomes.

He points to how many people today are upset with the HMO system, but few people realize that HMOs came about because of a federal mandate in 1973. He also points to the 1974 ERISA law that grants tax benefits to employers for providing insurance but not individuals; he prefers a system which grants tax credits to individuals. He supports the U.S. converting to a free market health care system, saying in an interview on New Hampshire NPR that the present system is akin to a “corporatist-fascist” system which keeps prices high. He says that in industries with freer markets prices go down due to technological innovation, but because of the corporatist system, this is prevented from happening in health care. He opposes socialized health care promoted by Democrats as being harmful because they lead to bigger and less efficient government.

Paul has said that although he prefers tax credits to socialized medicine, he would be willing to “prop up” the current systems of Medicare and Medicaid with money saved by bringing troops home from foreign bases in places such as those in South Korea.

Health care House passes health care bill on 219-212 vote

House passes health care bill on 219 212 vote
President Obama won a historic victory in the struggle for health care reform Sunday as the House of Representatives passed a sweeping bill overhauling the American medical system.

The bill passed in a 219-212 vote after more than a year of bitter partisan debate. All 178 Republicans opposed it, along with 34 Democrats.
The measure, which cleared the Senate in December, will now go to Obama’s desk to be signed into law. It constitutes the biggest expansion of federal health care guarantees since the enactment of Medicare and Medicaid more than four decades ago.
A separate compromise package of changes expanding the reach of the measure also passed the House over unanimous GOP opposition, and is now set to be taken up by the Senate.
The overall $940 billion plan is projected to extend insurance coverage to roughly 32 million additional Americans. It represents a significant step towards the goal of universal coverage sought by every Democratic president since Harry Truman.

Most Americans will now be required to have health insurance or pay a fine. Larger employers will be required to provide coverage or risk financial penalties. Total individual out-of pocket expenses will be capped, and insurers will be barred from denying coverage based on gender or pre-existing conditions.
The compromise package would add to the bill’s total cost partly by expanding insurance subsidies for middle- and lower-income families. The measure would scale back the bill’s taxes on expensive insurance plans.

Numerous House members insisted they would not back the Senate bill without a clear promise that senators would approve the changes.

The rare Sunday vote occurred after a long weekend of intense negotiations between the White House, House leaders and individual congressmen. Obama traveled to Capitol Hill Saturday to make a last-minute plea to the entire House Democratic caucus. He spent much of the last week trying to personally convince dozens of members.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, worked with administration officials to defuse a potentially fatal rebellion among socially conservative Democrats concerned that the bill won’t do enough to prevent taxpayer-funded abortions.

She also brokered a last-minute deal among several Democrats worried about disparities in Medicare funding for individual states.

Republicans failed to stop the Democratic health care initiative despite utilizing almost every weapon in their legislative arsenal. GOP leaders repeatedly have warned the plan will lead to a government takeover of America’s private employer-based health care system.

They have also argued it will lead to higher premiums and taxes while imposing harsh Medicare cuts and doing little to control spiraling medical costs.
