The Real Ghostbusters was a half hour cartoon show based on the 1984 movie, and original aired from 1986 to 1991 (the “The Real” prefix was to differentiate it from Filmation’s Ghost Busters). Time Life released this complete collection last year, but only now have I found it to be affordable. This is a terrific set that includes the entire series, including the later Slimer! episodes, as well as all kinds of great bonus features like commentary and behind-the-scenes interviews. The presentation is top notch; the set comes in a cardboard firehouse with numerous details and lenticular images, and the individual volumes are encased in colorful steelbooks. The show is a bit campy, but still definitely fun, especially for those that grew up with it. Everything as been remastered, and while I wouldn’t write home about the picture quality, it’s still quite good given its age. The series is now being released in its individual volumes, and while they are very affordable, it’s actually cheaper to buy the whole set outright on Amazon, and you get more content! This is a great set for Ghostbusters fans and 80s kids, definitely give it a look!
