Last Man Standing – Dennis Kucinich

August 29, 2010 - 3:44 pm 25 Comments

2 Last Man Standing Dennis KucinichA few very striking quotations from a backpedalling article written by Dennis Kucinich entitled, “Last Man Standing.” The words of Kucinich stand as an inditement of total political failure of the US system of government. The government continues to avoid solutions in favor of special private and corporate interests. How much failure can the citizens of the United States and the World endure? Liberty, freedom, and rights? Where?

Great News, More Customers

August 29, 2010 - 3:29 pm 25 Comments

2 Great News, More CustomersGreat News, More customers; explaining the “healthcare bill” does not get any easier than that. We are watching crony-legalized-government~sponsored-graft-capitalism at its finest moment of theft in action. But why does the economy work at all. We have a huge military commitment spanning the seas holding stability in place. Without our military project we in the United States would be isolated from the great landmass as if we were an island with no future prospects. We need to apply anticipatory design science (to be covered in the next video) or face that outcome as illustrated by the Hammer and Sickle of Soviet Empire reaching over Western Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

2 Axelrod to Tea Partyers: Youre Wrong On Health ReformOn “Face The Nation,” White House Senior Advisor David Axelrod responded to the “tea party protesters” marching in opposition to President Obama’s health care reform plan.

“My message to them is, they’re wrong,” said Axelrod, adding that a poll suggests “don’t represent a mainstream view of this health care plan.” “I don’t think it’s indicative of the nation’s mood,” he told Bob Schieffer.

HOWARD FINEMAN-”MY SOURCES CLAIM DENNIS KUCINICH WILL VOTE YES ON HEALTH CARE BILL”

August 29, 2010 - 2:20 pm 5 Comments

2 HOWARD FINEMAN MY SOURCES CLAIM DENNIS KUCINICH WILL VOTE YES ON HEALTH CARE BILLWhat’s news worthy isn’t the corporate sponsored weak Tea Party turn out today .What’s news worthy is what Howard Fineman claims his sources are saying . They are saying, ” Dennis Kucinich will vote yes for the health care bill ” in his press conference tomorrow . All I have to say is yes , lol ! This bill will help mostly everybody in some form or fashion . Now I have had some civil and not so civil debates with fellow liberals, ha…putting it lightly . They falsely claim reforms won’t kick in until 2014 . That’s not true .Some reforms will kick in immediately . These are some below…

1. “Uninsured people with medical problems will have a workable alternative. The bill pumps $5 billion into high-risk insurance pools run by the states to provide coverage to those in frail health. Taxpayer-backed insurance won’t be free, but premiums should be much lower than what’s charged by private insurers willing to take those in poor health”.

2. For people with private health insurance about two-thirds of Americans there would be some new safeguards. For example, insurers would be barred from placing lifetime dollar limits on coverage and from canceling policies except in cases of fraud. Children could stay on their parents’ coverage until age 26

Health care House passes health care bill on 219-212 vote

House passes health care bill on 219 212 vote
President Obama won a historic victory in the struggle for health care reform Sunday as the House of Representatives passed a sweeping bill overhauling the American medical system.

The bill passed in a 219-212 vote after more than a year of bitter partisan debate. All 178 Republicans opposed it, along with 34 Democrats.
The measure, which cleared the Senate in December, will now go to Obama’s desk to be signed into law. It constitutes the biggest expansion of federal health care guarantees since the enactment of Medicare and Medicaid more than four decades ago.
A separate compromise package of changes expanding the reach of the measure also passed the House over unanimous GOP opposition, and is now set to be taken up by the Senate.
The overall $940 billion plan is projected to extend insurance coverage to roughly 32 million additional Americans. It represents a significant step towards the goal of universal coverage sought by every Democratic president since Harry Truman.

Most Americans will now be required to have health insurance or pay a fine. Larger employers will be required to provide coverage or risk financial penalties. Total individual out-of pocket expenses will be capped, and insurers will be barred from denying coverage based on gender or pre-existing conditions.
The compromise package would add to the bill’s total cost partly by expanding insurance subsidies for middle- and lower-income families. The measure would scale back the bill’s taxes on expensive insurance plans.

Numerous House members insisted they would not back the Senate bill without a clear promise that senators would approve the changes.

The rare Sunday vote occurred after a long weekend of intense negotiations between the White House, House leaders and individual congressmen. Obama traveled to Capitol Hill Saturday to make a last-minute plea to the entire House Democratic caucus. He spent much of the last week trying to personally convince dozens of members.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, worked with administration officials to defuse a potentially fatal rebellion among socially conservative Democrats concerned that the bill won’t do enough to prevent taxpayer-funded abortions.

She also brokered a last-minute deal among several Democrats worried about disparities in Medicare funding for individual states.

Republicans failed to stop the Democratic health care initiative despite utilizing almost every weapon in their legislative arsenal. GOP leaders repeatedly have warned the plan will lead to a government takeover of America’s private employer-based health care system.

They have also argued it will lead to higher premiums and taxes while imposing harsh Medicare cuts and doing little to control spiraling medical costs.

Health Care Bill + Capitulation by Progressives

August 29, 2010 - 1:58 pm 25 Comments

2 Health Care Bill + Capitulation by ProgressivesUnfortunately, I cannot link to the full article by Glenn Greenwald, because salon.com does not enable direct links to individual articles, but you can google Glenn Greenwald and its still on his front page, if you scroll down.

I would also suggest watching the interview of Kucinich and Nader on the Democracy Now website.

As usual, the question arises, whether the Republicans in office would be worse. I believe most certainly, that they would be. One look or listen to the Glenn Becks and Michelle Malkins within their midst, stirring up hatred and anger, fueling religious extremism and white nationalism, and it certainly make me shudder. But rest assured that the Democratic Party as a whole is thoroughly corrupt as well a slow motion train wreck, if you will.

You cannot have a Democracy, nor a Republic, without an informed populace, and the majority of US citizens are either being misinformed, misled, ignorant, and most simple dont give a damn. Thanks to our corporate mass media, in no small measure.

A coup détat has taken place, not beginning with this administration, but further back, with the global financial elite now firmly positioned to challenge any dissent whatsoever to their machinations. Their covert actions involve the shaping of public opinion via our media, and increasingly the internet as well. As usual, voices of dissent will be marginalized to the point of being invisible, but as economic hardships mount for the still existent middle class, these control tactics will eventually become more overtly repressive. Hence we have the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, Secret Detentions without legal recourse, and so on. As the propaganda machine churns on, the middle class, now under massive economic pressure, will be pitted against the poor and truly desperate. This in turn, will only serve the interests of the global financial elites, who would like nothing better, than the people fighting amongst themselves because it certainly takes attention away from their misdeeds, which created this situation in the first place.
